What is your name?
My name is Halie Wooldridge, but I just go by HALIE because (usually) no one can spell or pronounce my last name very well at first glance.
What is your genre of music?
Give us a little bio about you.
My names Halie and I’m 22 years old! I’m from a small town in Missouri called Thayer, right on the Arkansas line. I moved to Nashville 4 years ago, immediately after graduating high school. I didn’t even take the summer to stay home! My mom and I packed everything we could in our cars and drove down 2 weeks after I graduated. Music has always been in my blood. The late, great Jimmie Rodgers is a relative of mine and my older brother, Michael, is a songwriter in Nashville as well. He’s written songs for Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Black Shelton & helped write my first single, “Love Too Much”. I’ve also had the pleasure to appear on the American Song Contest and Songland! I actually ended up winning Songland when Martina McBride chose my song “Girls Like Me” to record on her record!
What made you go into music? Who are your influences?
I just always knew music was what I wanted to do. My family has influenced and supported my dream so much! I come from a big musical family so I think it just runs in our blood! My mom used to manage bands, my older brothers had a band when we were growing up and even my grandpa could sing & play guitar so I was just always around music of some sort.
Are you a signed?
No I’m a completely independent artist/songwriter right now. Hopefully soon I will be though.. 🙂
You are set to release your new single ‘Heart Of A Man’, tell us more about the single and the meaning behind the song.
I recently went through a really bad break up. I thought maybe if I could just understand the heart of a man, I could have figured out my past partner’s motive and know what really went wrong and when it did. The day I wrote the song, I actually cried in the studio. So it’s definitely a very personal one for me.
Describe the track in two words.
Emotional and vulnerable.
What was the writing and recording process like?
I got to write and record “Heart of a Man” with Phil Barnes last August! It was a very therapeutic process for me and helped me heal from my breakup. Initially I brought the title with me to the session but didn’t have any idea where it’d go. We sat and wrote the whole song together that day and then Phil produced the demo. When I heard it, I started crying. It’s definitely a vulnerable one for me!
Who did you work with on the single?
I wrote this song with Phil Barnes, and he also produced it.
Will we see a music video for ‘Heart Of A Man’ and if so what can we expect from the creative process?
I don’t have any plans for a music video right now, but I do have a moody visualizer coming your way! I’m excited for you guys to see that.
Will we see an EP or Album and if so, what can we expect from it?
I want to really focus on my songwriting and the stories behind my songs so right now the plan is to just focus on singles.
Do you have any upcoming shows and if so where can we see you/get tickets?
Yes! All my upcoming shows can be found on my socials! If you live in Nashville, I’m having a single release party at Assembly Food Hall on Feb 16th, It’s at 8pm and completely free to come and enjoy!
What else can we expect in early 2023?
I’m going to write more songs, play more shows and hopefully put together a full band soon.
Where do you see yourself now in 5 years?
Still pursuing music and happiness. One thing about me is that I always make decisions based on my well-being and what makes me happy. Music makes me happy, so I will always be doing that.
What quote or saying do you always stick by?
“Do what makes you happy.” My mom always told me that growing up, so I brought it along with me through life. So far it has helped me make decisions that I don’t regret.
When you are at a gig, what are 5 things you cannot forget?
My guitar, tuner, capo, a good pair of boots to perform in, and hopefully my car keys that gets me to the gig haha
