In dialog: Jeremy Sassoon — Jewish Renaissance

Who are a few of your musical heroes?

My heroes are cut up into jazz instrumental artists, akin to Keith Jarrett, Miles Davis and Pat Metheny, and soul/R&B singers, together with Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Roberta Flack and Earth, Wind & Fire.

You launched a canopy of Glen Campbell’s ‘Wichita Lineman’ in 2018, which I lately heard you carry out on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. What’s the tale there?

During lockdown, clearly all gigs stopped. I felt in point of fact sorry for all my scientific buddies who have been running tirelessly whilst I watched sunlight hours small screen television and the guilt kicked in. So I made up our minds to broadcast 8 weekly Facebook Live displays to lift cash for the NHS. We introduced my scientific colleagues at the displays as visitors, actually streaming interviews with them instantly from the wards, and we raised £14,000. This stuck the eye of Radio 4 who requested me to return at the Today program to speak about it with Nick Robinson.

What’s subsequent?

An international-beating run on the Fringe, adopted temporarily via reputation, fortune and discovering and ingesting the elixir of existence! More most probably, alternatively, I’ll simply have a bath and make some tacky crumpets.
